Romance de Isabel. Traducción de Enma Arance

Enma Arance (student of Primary 6 Corchado Pedro College of Bailen, Spain) sends the translation and illustrations of a traditional Spanish romance.

En el muelle de Almería
un matrimonio vivía
Era rico y hacendoso
Y una hija que tenía
Un día fue a llevarle
A su padre la comida
Se ha enamorado un caballero
Al verla tan guapa y linda.
-Esta es tu hija, Manuel
-Esta es mi hija, Don José
De buena gana Manuel
Con su hija me casara
Y a su queridísima hija
No haría falta de nada.
Tiene novio, don José
Y lo tiene en el servicio
Un honrado trabajador
Y lo quiere con delirio
Se quieren desde niños
Pero lo que Vd. Tiene que hacer
Es casar a su hija
Con uno que tenga pesetas
Y no le falta la comida
Bueno hasta mañana, me voy
Que con mi hija hablare
Con lo que ella me diga
La contestación traeré
Tu has visto aquel caballero
Que conmgio platicaba?
Quiere casarse contigo
Al verte tan linda y guapa
Como olvido yo a Manuel
Padre de mi corazón
La palabra que le dí
La quiero hasta morir
Tu haras lo que te mande
Y si no te mataré
Y en un cuarto muy oscuro
Tu corazón enterrare
Y al ver la muerte cercana
Y a su padre muy furioso
Yo hare lo que Vd. Diga
Padre de mi corazón
Ha cogido pluma y tintero
Y a su novio escribió:
Ven a salvarme si puedes
Si te encuentras licenciado
Quieren casarme mis padres
Con un rico millonario
Ya la sacan y la velan
Ya la llevan a la iglesia
Zapatos no había otros
Vestido bordado en seda
Estando en la propia iglesia
Manuel al pueblo llegó
Se encontró con un amigo
Y este el caso le conto
 Ni corto ni perezoso
Para la iglesia se marcho
Al verlo su novia entrar
A su cuello se tiro
No me llores Isabel
Sangre de mis propias venas
Ya tienes quien te defienda
Me la llevo señorito
Me la llevo porque es mia
Si algo tiene Vd que ver
Pronto me juego la vida
Se marchó aquel matrimonio
Y vivieron  muy felices
Y el padre y el señorito
Con tres palmos de narices

In the Almeria’s dock
One married lived
He was rich and hardworking
He has a daughter
One day she went to take
Her father the meal
When a gentleman saw her
So pretty and so beautiful
He fell in love with her
Is this your daughter, Manuel?
This is my daughter, Mr. José?
I don’t mind get married her
And she wouldn’t have lack of anything.
But, she has got a boyfriend.
And He is doing military service, now.
He is an honest worker
And she’s crazy about him
They love each other since they were children
But, what you should do is
That your daughter gets married
man with a lot of money
and she won’t have lack of meal
Well, see you tomorrow. I’m leaving
I’ll talk about this with her
I’ll tell you what she say me
Do you see the gentleman which whom I’m speaking?
He wants to get married you
When he saw you so beautiful and so pretty
How can I forget Manuel?
Father from my heart
I love till death
The word that I gave him
But you have to do what I order you
Because If you don’t do this
I kill you and I bury your heart
In a very dark room
She saw her death very near
And her father very furious
-I’ll do what you say, father from my heart
She took a quill and an inkpot
And she wrote to her girlfriend:
Como for saving me if you can and If you have finished your military service.
My parents want to I get married a rich millionaire man
She is already taken   and is brought to the church
Shoes there weren’t others
The dress embroidery with silk
When she was in the church
Her boyfriend came to the village
And he met a friend and this friend told him the story
Wasting no time, he went to the church and
When his girlfriend saw him

She ran for embracing him
Don’t cry, Isabel
Blood of my own vein
You have got someone that can defend you
I take away her Mister
Because she is mine
If you don’t want I would bet my life for her
The couple left and they lived very happy
And the father and the gentlemen remained with three inches of noses
